A Wicked Wedding Styled Shoot
If you’re anything like me, the Wicked movie took by surprise and quickly became your new favorite broadway movie adaption. I’ve always loved musicals, but had never seen Wicked until it hit the big screens, and from the very second I saw it, I was obsessed!
After part one was released, I knew I had missed my chance to create a stunning Wicked themed wedding. Lucky for me though, there would be two parts to this epic movie, and I knew I had to get to work creating something before part two was released…
But why should YOU host a Wicked-themed wedding? Well for starters, it’s a fantastic choice for couples who want their celebration to be deeply personal, visually stunning, and rich with symbolism. At its heart, Wicked is a story about identity, transformation, and the power of love and friendship—making it a beautiful metaphor for marriage. The theme allows couples to play with bold contrasts: light and dark, whimsy and drama, soft romance and fierce individuality. From vibrant, theatrical decor and lush florals to magical wardrobe choices and meaningful details (like spell books, wands, or sparkling crowns), it offers endless creative freedom. Whether you connect with Glinda’s bubbly optimism, Elphaba’s unwavering strength, or the unique bond between the two, a Wicked-inspired wedding encourages couples to embrace who they are, celebrate their story, and create a wedding that’s truly unforgettable- which is exactly what we wanted to capture within this shoot.
Getting Galinda-fied
We envisioned Glinda’s wedding day as a dazzling celebration full of sparkle, softness, and spellbinding charm—an event that feels like stepping into a page from a fairytale set in Oz. We picture whimsical florals in shades of blush and fuchsia, glittering decor, and a light, ethereal ambiance that feels like it was conjured by magic. Her day begins in a dreamy bridal suite filled with laughter and pink tulle, followed by a ceremony surrounded by cascading blooms and glowing drapery. Every moment is full of personality—think floating bubbles, delicate shimmer, and elegant touches that reflect her signature Glinda glam. It’s a wedding that’s both enchantingly romantic and unapologetically fabulous, just like her.
Galinda’s Wedding Day Details
Glinda’s Wicked-inspired wedding day was nothing short of magical, bringing her iconic sparkle and charm into every detail. Instead of following tradition, this bride leaned into blush tones, hot pink accents, and whimsical accessories that reflected her vibrant personality. From her dazzling tiara to her bold pink heels, every element of her look was designed to shine—reminding modern brides that wedding style should be about self-expression, not rules. Her vow book, embossed in gold, paired perfectly with delicate jewelry, a butterfly-topped perfume bottle, and a vintage golden hand mirror that added a touch of timeless elegance.
The flat lay details told a story of romance and individuality, blending fresh blooms in soft pinks and ivory with layers of satin draping and glamorous accents. These curated touches brought Glinda’s world to life, showing that inspiration can come from anywhere—even Broadway. Brides who love the idea of a Wicked-inspired wedding can take notes from Glinda’s playful yet elegant style: embrace color, sparkle, and personality in every choice, from your shoes to your bouquet.
At the heart of Glinda’s wedding day details is the reminder that weddings no longer need to fit into a single mold. For brides who dream of a fairytale moment that feels authentically theirs, a Wicked wedding theme offers endless possibilities. Whether you channel Glinda’s bubbly energy or Elphaba’s fierce confidence, the magic lies in creating a day that celebrates who you are. With sparkle, bold fashion, and a little theatrical flair, your wedding can be just as enchanting as a Broadway production.
Getting Ready with Galinda
The bridal suite at Ahavah Venue is thoughtfully designed to be both functional and serene, offering the perfect space for pre-ceremony moments. With its soft natural light, elegant finishes, and cozy furnishings, it creates a calm and inviting atmosphere where brides and their wedding party can relax, sip champagne, and get ready in style. The suite includes a private bathroom for convenience, ample mirrors and seating for hair and makeup, and beautifully styled touches that make it feel like a home away from home. It’s not just a room—it’s a space where meaningful memories begin. Now, onto the Wicked details…
These Glinda-inspired getting ready photos are pure Wicked magic with a bridal twist! Channeling everyone's favorite good witch, the bride shines in a voluminous pink tulle robe that’s as bubbly and fabulous as Glinda herself. With heart-shaped sunglasses, playful tea sets, sparkling decor, and a touch of whimsy, every detail exudes charm and theatrical flair. Captured in a space that feels like a glam dressing room straight out of Oz, this moment is more than just prep—it's a celebration of personality, pink, and pure joy. Perfect for brides who want their wedding day to start with a little sparkle and a whole lot of fun.
One of our favorite additions to Glinda’s wedding day details was her whimsical bubble wand—a playful, handmade piece that truly brought the magic of Wicked to life. Created by Lauren, owner of Elizabeth Bliss Events, the wand was crafted from icicle Christmas decorations, a pink-painted styrofoam ball, and enough hot glue to sell out a craft store. More than just a prop, it was a statement piece—capturing Glinda’s lighthearted, bubbly spirit and instantly setting the tone for the entire shoot. Its presence added a touch of theatrical charm and humor, reminding us that weddings can (and should) be a little magical, a little extra, and completely personal. It was the perfect finishing touch to a wedding design rooted in fantasy, fun, and unforgettable details.
The Bridal Gown
Glinda’s wedding dress from this Wicked-inspired celebration is the epitome of fairy-tale elegance with a modern, theatrical twist. Featuring a strapless, structured bodice and a full, flowing skirt, the gown exudes whimsy and grace. The romantic silhouette nods to Glinda’s iconic bubble-gown moment, while the delicate detailing and ethereal fabric add a fresh, bridal touch. We decided to pair the gown with a long cathedral veil that was scattered with soft pink floral appliqués, and then finished the bridal look with a pastel bouquet and her signature bubble wand, the look is pure magic—perfect for a bride who wants to feel like a good witch stepping into her happily ever after.
Glinda’s wedding jewelry was the perfect blend of elegance, sparkle, and fairytale charm—fitting for the Good Witch herself. Her lab-created pink diamond wedding ring was a stunning showstopper, radiating romance and individuality while reflecting her signature blush palette. She paired it with morganite drop earrings accented by delicate diamonds, adding a soft, feminine glow that beautifully framed her face. Around her neck, a whimsical gold star necklace adorned with tiny diamonds offered a celestial nod to Glinda’s ethereal aura, layered effortlessly with a classic diamond tennis necklace for an extra touch of glam. Every piece was thoughtfully chosen to enhance her radiant bridal look, balancing playful magic with refined sophistication.
Elphaba
Elphaba’s Details
Elphaba’s wedding day details were a stunning blend of moody enchantment and unapologetic individuality. Designed with her iconic edge in mind, the flatlay featured her signature black witch hat and a beautifully styled grimoire, grounding the scene in spellbinding charm. Rich green and purple florals, jeweled accessories, and deep-toned satin created a dramatic contrast to Glinda’s soft, pink palette—perfectly representing Elphaba’s powerful presence. Dark, elegant details like black ribboned invitations, emerald earrings, and a vintage spell box added layers of personality and storytelling. Every piece whispered of magic, mystery, and a love story as bold and unforgettable as the Wicked Witch herself.
Getting Ready with Elphaba
The second bridal suite at Ahavah Venue is a moody, bespoke space thoughtfully crafted for the groom and his party to unwind and enjoy real moments before the big “I do.” Located in the lower-level of the adjoining bridal house, this masculine retreat is furnished with a pool table, TV, and mini fridge—ideal for hanging out, sharing laughs, and staying relaxed as the excitement builds. It’s part clubhouse, part lounge: rich textures and subdued lighting set the tone, while comfortable seating invites camaraderie.
For Elphaba’s getting ready moments, we reimagined the groom’s lounge as her bridal suite—and it couldn’t have been a more perfect fit. The moody, masculine space—with its dark walls, vintage textures, and rich wood tones—offered the ideal contrast to Glinda’s light and airy prep area. This dramatic setting instantly gave off Elphaba vibes, embracing the darker aesthetic of her character while still feeling elegant and intentional. The space became a magical haven where powerful, witchy energy met quiet, reflective moments. It was an unexpected yet beautifully fitting twist that brought depth and authenticity to the overall design.
Elphaba’s getting ready photos are a moody, magical dream—infused with vintage charm and powerful witchy energy. Set against a dramatic black brick wall, the space was styled with rich, storybook elements like dark vintage luggage trunks, a carved wooden vanity, and a deep green antique armchair. Her grimoire and iconic black witch hat were thoughtfully placed among mossy accents, aged books, and mystical trinkets, creating a scene that felt straight out of her spellbinding world. The vibe was darkly elegant, mysterious, and full of character—perfectly capturing the essence of a bride who’s anything but ordinary.
The Bedazzled bridal suit
Elphaba’s bedazzled black suit radiates unapologetic confidence and feminine power, bringing a bold twist to bridal fashion with a look that’s equal parts elegant and edgy. The tailored silhouette, accented with shimmering black sequins and satin lapels, commands attention while staying effortlessly chic. Paired with sleek trousers and statement heels, the ensemble channels the spirit of a woman who owns her magic and isn’t afraid to stand out. Set against a moody backdrop filled with books and vintage charm, this modern take on Wicked-inspired fashion proves that wedding day style doesn’t have to fit the mold—it just has to fit you.
When designing Elphaba’s wedding day looks, we knew we didn’t want to limit her to just one version of bridal fashion—because Elphaba, by nature, breaks boundaries. We wanted to imagine her in both a powerful black suit and a dramatic wedding gown to reflect the complexity and depth of her character. The suit embodied her strength, confidence, and unapologetic individuality—a bold “I do” to doing things her own way. On the other hand, the gown allowed us to explore her softness, her romance, and her vulnerability, proving that power and femininity can coexist beautifully. By showcasing both styles, we celebrated the idea that a bride doesn’t have to choose one side of herself—she can be fierce, emotional, elegant, and rebellious all in the same day.
Elphaba’s Wedding Gown
Elphaba’s black wedding gown is a breathtaking statement of strength, individuality, and dark romance. Draped in layers of shimmering black tulle embroidered with bold botanical motifs, the dress flows with a moody elegance that perfectly reflects her fierce, enchanting spirit. The corset-style bodice and off-the-shoulder silhouette add a touch of drama and femininity, while a matching black veil completes the look with witchy sophistication. Paired with a bouquet of deep greens and purples, the gown feels both rooted in nature and charged with mystique—proving that bridal beauty doesn’t have to be traditional to be utterly spellbinding.
Elphaba’s wedding jewelry was a striking blend of elegance, symbolism, and enchantment—perfectly embodying her bold, grounded spirit. At the center was her emerald wedding ring, encircled with delicate diamonds, representing strength, growth, and enduring love. Around her neck, she layered two meaningful pieces: a classic emerald and diamond pendant necklace that added timeless sophistication, and a whimsical emerald and clover diamond necklace that brought in a subtle nod to nature and luck. Her emerald and diamond bangle bracelet wrapped her wrist in refined sparkle, while emerald cluster drop earrings framed her face with dramatic charm. Together, each piece told a story—one of power, purpose, and a love as rare and radiant as the bride herself.
Wicked Inspired Stationery
This detail flatlay is a treasure trove of Wicked-inspired magic, filled with intentional nods to both Glinda and Elphaba through layered symbolism and carefully curated styling. From the shimmering tiara nestled among pink florals to the dark witch’s hat paired with moody blooms, the image beautifully contrasts the two worlds. Glinda’s presence shines through soft satin in blush tones, a sparkling bubble wand ornament, and dainty butterfly motifs, while Elphaba’s essence is captured with deep emerald fabrics, a vintage spellbook box, and her iconic black hat. Invitations labeled with both characters’ names (Esmeralda Thropp and Shiz University shoutouts included!) blend fantasy and formality, and even the perfume bottle, ring box, and jeweled accessories tell a story of two powerful women. Every element was chosen to evoke the heart of Wicked—duality, transformation, and the beauty of embracing who you are. This flatlay doesn’t just showcase wedding details; it celebrates a love story written in emerald and pink, spellbinding and unforgettable.
The Stationery
Every aspect of this shoot had to be epic, and the stationary and signage were no exception. I knew I wanted Invited DSM to provide these, as I’ve been obsessed with Kate’s work for awhile now!
This Wicked-inspired wedding stationery suite beautifully bridges the worlds of Glinda and Elphaba, blending romance with an enchanting edge. Featuring bold florals, whimsical shapes, and an art deco-style invitation, the design feels both vintage and theatrical—perfect for a wedding rooted in fantasy and flair. Pops of pink and gold reflect Glinda’s signature sparkle, while deep greens and botanical illustrations nod to Elphaba’s earthy, mystical essence. From the butterfly RSVP card to the gilded perfume bottle and floral accents, every detail tells a story of two worlds colliding in harmony, creating an invitation suite that feels as magical and meaningful as the love it represents.
The Design
The overall design of the Wicked-inspired wedding was a stunning fusion of fantasy, drama, and intentional storytelling. Every element—from the ceremony backdrop to the reception tables—was curated to reflect the contrast and harmony between Glinda and Elphaba. One of the biggest creative challenges in designing this Wicked-inspired wedding was finding the perfect balance between Glinda and Elphaba’s drastically different personalities and aesthetics—while still creating a cohesive, elevated wedding design. Glinda is all things light, bubbly, and whimsical, while Elphaba brings a moodier, more grounded energy full of depth and intention. It was important to me not to make it feel like two separate weddings colliding, but instead like one beautifully layered celebration that honored both women equally. I envisioned what their wedding might look like if they planned it together—if Glinda’s love of sparkle and theatrical flair met Elphaba’s richness, power, and quiet elegance. From the ombré floral palette and mismatched linens to the mirrored ceremony pillars and dual fashion looks, every choice was a thoughtful reflection of how their worlds could collide in harmony. The result wasn’t just about contrasting colors or styles—it was about creating something that felt magical, meaningful, and deeply personal, just like the story that inspired it.
The Ceremony Setup
I wanted to showcase something truly different for the ceremony—something that didn’t just nod to Wicked’s magic, but fully embraced it in a way that felt immersive, intentional, and completely fresh. Wicked itself feels so magical and whimsical, much like a wedding ceremony should feel, but I wanted to present that magic through a more artistic and unexpected lens. But how would one go about that...
I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to incorporate drapery. There’s something so romantic and ethereal about fabric floating in space, and using it for the ceremony backdrop felt like the perfect way to create movement, softness, and visual storytelling all at once. I asked Destiney with Annata Vintage to bring that vision to life using her one-of-a-kind hand-dyed tapestries from The Lovli Co., which brought texture, color variation, and a sense of artistry that felt custom and curated. The layered pastel tones created a dreamlike effect—light catching on each panel, swaying gently with the air—as if magic was literally woven into the space. To ground the softness, we paired the drapery with the ever-trending floral stands from Sweet Violet Co., who created contrasting floral pillars that told the story of Glinda and Elphaba through color, structure, and movement. The result was a ceremony space that felt elevated, imaginative, and unlike anything guests would expect—because when you’re inspired by a world as layered and powerful as Wicked, you don’t just recreate it… you reimagine it.
This indoor Wicked-inspired ceremony setup feels like stepping into a fairytale set in Oz, where magic and romance intertwine. Two lush floral pillars frame the altar space—one blooming with soft pinks for Glinda and the other with rich purples and deep greenery for Elphaba—symbolizing the beauty of contrast and unity. Sheer pastel drapes hang elegantly between oversized arched windows, casting a dreamy glow across the space and adding dimension and whimsy. This ceremony design is bold, theatrical, and deeply meaningful—perfect for couples who want a wedding as magical as their love story.
The Sweetheart Table
The drapery Annata Vintage setup was absolute perfection, so we had to repurpose it in as many ways as we could! I decided from early on, that the sweetheart table setup should be designed infront of the drapery, while also repurposing the tall floral stands from the ceremony setup.
I wanted the couples sweetheart table to feel intimate, as if they are in their own little world, which in setting them up inside the drapery really helped achieve that look. On the wedding day itself, head tables or sweetheart tables that are setup front and center infront of guests, can sometimes make the couples feel like they are on display, and ultimately make them feel uncomfortable. That’s why I wanted to give a more closed off and intimate feel to their table, so couples who would rather feel a bit more closed off, can achieve this look on their own.
This Wicked-inspired sweetheart table is a stunning representation of duality and harmony, blending Glinda’s soft romance with Elphaba’s bold mystique. Nestled beneath whimsical tulle installations and surrounded by lush, cascading florals, the table is anchored by a vintage blush velvet loveseat that perfectly bridges their contrasting styles. On one side, Elphaba’s black gown and rich, moody blooms bring drama and depth; on the other, Glinda’s ethereal blush dress and pastel florals add light and softness. Together, the florals spill over the table and onto the floor in vibrant pinks, purples, and greens, creating a fairytale-meets-fantasy scene that celebrates both individuality and connection. It’s a visual love letter to balance, beauty, and the magic that happens when opposites unite.
Table Design #1
Much as Wicked focuses on Elphaba, I wanted the table designs to do the same, which is why I stuck with the green linens, and pink accents. While this story follows Galinda as well, I really wanted to highlight that Elphaba was our main focus, and to do so, it starts from the ground up.
This Wicked-inspired tablescape is a vibrant celebration of color, texture, and theatrical elegance. A rich emerald green sequin linen sets the stage, nodding to the Land of Oz while adding bold drama and sparkle. Layered place settings with gold flatware, ornate chargers, and whimsical velvet-topped menus bring both refinement and fantasy to the table. Lush floral arrangements in shades of blush, fuchsia, and coral burst with energy, creating a stunning contrast against the deep green backdrop. Soft pink taper candles in gold holders add a romantic glow, while green vintage glassware ties the look together. It’s a strikingly magical design that perfectly blends Glinda’s charm with Elphaba’s edge.
Table Design #2
This Wicked-inspired table design is a vibrant tribute to the duality of bold elegance and whimsical charm. Set atop a rich emerald green velvet linen—an homage to the Emerald City—each place setting features layered gold chargers, delicate green-trimmed china, and blush pink napkins, creating a luxe yet romantic foundation. The floral runner bursts with color and texture, combining deep plum, fuchsia, lavender, and soft blush blooms to symbolize the powerful magic of both Glinda and Elphaba. The finishing touch? Oversized satin pink bows tied to each gold chiavari chair, adding a playful, Glinda-approved flourish. With every detail thoughtfully curated, this tablescape brings the magic of Oz to life in the most enchanting way.
The lush floral runner is the true star of the design, thoughtfully arranged to transition from soft blush and bold fuchsia blooms, through vibrant greens, and into rich lavenders and deep purples. This seamless gradient symbolizes the blending of Glinda’s bright, bubbly energy with Elphaba’s mysterious, grounded strength. It not only adds dynamic color and depth to the table but tells a story—one of two contrasting forces coming together in perfect balance.
Sweet Treats
With a magical wedding day, who doesn’t want the aesthetic to transfer over to every aspect of their big day? That’s exactly why we wanted the dessert display to feel just as elevated and enchanting as the rest of this Wicked-inspired celebration. Instead of a traditional cake table, we created an immersive, upscale vignette that felt like a scene straight out of Oz—complete with antique mirrors, flickering taper candles, moss-covered books, and Elphaba’s signature spellbook for a touch of mystery. It was dark, moody, and magical—in the best way. Because who says you can’t go all out for your wedding desserts? This display wasn’t just about sweets—it was about creating a visual moment guests would never forget, tying together the theme with drama, elegance, and a little bit of wonder.
The Dessert Display
The dessert display turned out better than I ever could have imagined! When I was creating the moodboard, I knew I wanted the display to have a garden feel to it, while still being setup inside. To achieve that look, I set up a greenery wall, placed the dessert display infront of it, and placed floral arrangements around the base to give the feel that there’s a forest growing around it.
This Wicked-inspired dessert display is pure theatrical enchantment, blending moody elegance with vintage fantasy. At the center stands a striking black tiered cake adorned with cascading florals, moss, and dark textured details that evoke Elphaba’s powerful essence. The dramatic cake is elevated on a gold stand, surrounded by antique books, candlelit candelabras, and ornate mirrors that reflect the glow of flickering taper candles. Accents like a grimoire, vintage teacups, and a crystal tiara bring in hints of both witches' worlds—combining Glinda’s sparkle with Elphaba’s mystery. With a lush boxwood backdrop adding texture and contrast, this dessert table feels like a scene straight out of Oz—spellbinding, opulent, and unforgettable.
The Outdoor Lounge
Including an outdoor lounge setup on your wedding day is a thoughtful and stylish way to elevate your guest experience while adding a cozy, personalized touch to your celebration. It creates a relaxed space where guests can mingle, take a break from dancing, or enjoy a quiet conversation under the stars. Lounge areas also serve as stunning photo opportunities, especially when styled with intentional decor, lush florals, and vintage or modern furniture that matches your wedding aesthetic. Beyond function, they bring warmth and intimacy to your event—turning open spaces into inviting moments. Whether it’s used for cocktail hour, late-night lounging, or as a romantic hideaway for the couple, an outdoor lounge adds charm, comfort, and that extra “wow” factor to your day.
The Galinda + Elfie Lounge Design
This outdoor lounge setup is a fairytale-inspired dream, bringing vintage charm and theatrical flair to a serene garden setting. Featuring a trio of antique velvet chairs—two in a romantic blush pink and one in a rich sage green—the seating arrangement perfectly mirrors the iconic Wicked duo, Glinda and Elphaba. The scene is grounded by a cascading floral display that transitions beautifully from vibrant pinks to soft greens and moody purples, echoing the transformation and harmony found throughout Oz. Layered rugs, delicate teacups, stacked books, and whimsical bud vases add texture and personality, making this lounge not only a visual statement, but an inviting space for guests to relax and revel in the magic.
From spellbinding fashion to enchanting florals and bold, theatrical details, a Wicked-inspired wedding brings a whole new level of magic to your big day. It’s a celebration that honors individuality, friendship, and the beautiful balance of light and dark—making it the perfect theme for couples who want to break the mold and tell their love story in a truly unforgettable way. Whether you lean into Glinda’s soft sparkle, Elphaba’s fierce elegance, or a blend of both, this theme proves that your wedding can be just as powerful, whimsical, and wonderfully unique as the two of you. Because in the end, love—just like magic—is most powerful when it’s authentically yours. Huge shout out to all the amazing vendors who helped bring my vision to life!
