A Foggy Forest Fairytale at Deer Creek Mountain Camp, Jordan & Erik
There are weddings that are beautiful… and then there are weddings that feel like they belong in a movie. Jordan and Erik’s celebration at Deer Creek Mountain Camp in Bailey, Colorado was one of those rare stories where the magic of nature, the warmth of family, and the depth of love all collided in one unforgettable week.
Set in the Colorado mountains during early June, this wedding was wrapped in mist and quiet wonder—so much so that the fog rolled in and stayed, covering the landscape in a dreamlike haze. It looked and felt like Forks, straight out of Twilight. I’ll always call this my Twilight wedding—and it’s one that will stay in my heart forever.

Deer Creek Mountain Camp, nestled in the heart of Bailey, Colorado, offers a secluded, serene escape perfect for an immersive wedding weekend. With mountains towering in every direction, winding forest trails, and wildlife wandering freely, it’s a venue that feels like a true retreat into nature.
The venue features charming on-site cabins that housed not just the bride and groom, but their families, vendors, and guests. Everyone shared the land for multiple days, creating an atmosphere of community, closeness, and calm. Surrounded by pine, spruce, and aspen trees, and tucked beneath the clouds, the entire setting felt otherworldly—especially with the fog that settled in, softening every detail and making each moment feel cinematic.
Tuesday: Rehearsal, S’mores & Mountain Joy
The wedding week kicked off on Tuesday with a relaxed and cozy rehearsal evening. Jordan and Erik gathered with their favorite people outside the venue’s iconic A-frame cabin, where they played yard games with the kids, roasted s’mores, and soaked in the mountain air.
There was laughter echoing through the trees, conversations by the fire, and that electric sense of anticipation for what was to come. It was the perfect beginning to a wedding week that would turn out to be unforgettable in every way.
Wednesday Ceremony: Forest Views, Floral Arches & Wildlife Wonders
Wednesday brought the main event, and with it came the most magical mountain fog. The ceremony took place outdoors, beneath a canopy of native pine, fir, and aspen trees, with the muted gray sky above and layers of mist drifting through the mountains.
Deer Creek Mountain Camp Ceremony
At the heart of the space stood a grand floral arch designed by Lisa Carr—a breathtaking structure overflowing with greenery and blooms that perfectly echoed the natural surroundings. It framed Jordan and Erik beautifully as they exchanged vows, adding a romantic softness to the already ethereal mountain setting.
As if scripted, deer wandered quietly nearby, and the fog settled around the ceremony like a cinematic veil—turning every moment into something otherworldly. The mountains peeked through the mist just enough to remind us of the grandeur surrounding this sacred space. Between the stillness of the forest, the emotion in their vows, and the raw beauty of the day, it felt like time had stopped just for them.
Cocktail Hour: The A-Frame and Thoughtful Favors
Following the ceremony, guests moved into the A-frame cabin for cocktail hour. DJ Miss Haze played laid-back, soulful tracks as friends and family mingled, enjoyed appetizers from Perfect Pair Catering, and took in the surreal mountain view.
Two of the most personal and creative wedding favors we’ve ever seen were waiting for guests:
— Jars of honey from the groom’s family, a sweet and symbolic nod to their roots
— Propagation stations with test tubes and assorted greenery, letting guests choose a plant to take home and grow—a beautiful way to share life and love
Dinner & Dancing: Lodge Vibes and Late-Night Bonfires
Dinner took place in the warm and rustic main lodge, where guests gathered for a delicious family-style meal by Perfect Pair. The space felt cozy and intimate, glowing with candlelight and conversation. The grand entrance marked the couple’s first introduction as Mr. and Mrs. Sherman, cheered on by their lively bridal party and friends.
After dinner, the celebration returned to the A-frame where the energy shifted from sentimental to electric. DJ Miss Haze turned up the music, the s’mores station reopened, and a roaring bonfire became the perfect hangout under the stars.
Wildlife lingered near the edges of the woods as guests danced, toasted, and shared stories. And just when we thought the night was winding down, the party continued—moving into the gym for one last round of dancing before everyone made their way to the cabins to fall asleep in the woods under the Colorado sky.
Thursday: Farewells and Full Hearts
By Thursday morning, the fog had lifted, and the forest felt peaceful and still. Guests slowly packed up, said their goodbyes, and left Deer Creek Mountain Camp with full hearts and unforgettable memories.
A Note From Me
This wedding meant the world to me—not just because of the mountains or the moody weather, but because of Jordan and Erik. From our first meeting, I felt a connection to them. They were the perfect balance of fun and love—easy to work with, endlessly kind, and so in love. Watching their story unfold in such a breathtaking setting was an honor I’ll never forget. This was more than a wedding—it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience wrapped in mist, magic, and meaning.
