From their stationery and vow books to their jewelry, perfume, rings, and florals, every piece came together to create a beautiful collection of details that felt personal to the two of them.
Their wedding stationery incorporated soft, romantic colors with sage green, blush pink, and delicate floral patterns. We especially loved how they incorporated photos of themselves into both their save-the-date and wedding invitation suite. It gave their paper goods such a personal touch while introducing the colorful, garden-inspired aesthetic that carried throughout their Celebration Farm wedding.
The invitation suite was styled alongside some of the couple’s most meaningful wedding-day items, including their rings, jewelry, vow books, perfume and cologne, and personalized accessories. Colorful floral arrangements were placed along the aisle, adding pops of pink, blue, orange, and white against the surrounding greenery. It was a relatively simple addition, but it completely elevated the look of the ceremony and helped carry their colorful floral design from one part of the wedding day to the next.
At the front of the ceremony, the amphitheater’s iconic stone arches created an incredible focal point for Vanessa and Darnell as they exchanged vows. We added floral accents to the stone arches, but otherwise allowed the architecture and wooded surroundings to speak for themselves. The combination of natural greenery, stone, colorful florals, and Vanessa’s long veil made the entire ceremony feel romantic and almost storybook-like.

While guests enjoyed cocktail hour, our team had the opportunity to make sure every final detail inside the Double Round Barn at The Celebration Farm was ready for the reception. There is truly nothing like watching this space come together! The warm wood tones, dramatic rounded ceiling, statement lighting, floor-to-ceiling limestone fireplace, and built-in dance floor create such a beautiful backdrop before you even begin adding décor.
For Vanessa and Darnell’s reception, the barn was filled with colorful florals in shades of pink, peach, blue, and white. Tall floral centerpieces added height throughout the room, while the couple’s head table sat beautifully in front of the venue’s stone fireplace. The bright florals were such a fun contrast against the rustic wood interior and created the perfect balance of colorful, romantic, and elegant wedding décor.

Once guests made their way inside the Double Round Barn at The Celebration Farm in Iowa City, we lined up the wedding party for grand entrances and officially kicked off Vanessa and Darnell’s reception. With the venue’s soaring wooden ceilings, warm string lights, limestone fireplace, and colorful floral arrangements surrounding the room, it was the perfect setting for an unforgettable night of celebrating.
Shortly after their entrance, Vanessa and Darnell shared their first dance as newlyweds on The Celebration Farm’s spacious dance floor. But Darnell had another surprise planned—and Vanessa had no idea what was coming!
We pulled a chair onto the dance floor for Vanessa, and Darnell and his groomsmen quickly got into formation. What followed can only be described as the PG version of *Magic Mike*! The groom and his groomsmen had prepared an entire surprise dance for the bride, and it was easily one of the most entertaining moments of the night. Vanessa’s reaction was priceless, the bridesmaids absolutely loved it, and the entire room was laughing and cheering them on. We love when our couples incorporate unexpected moments like this into their Iowa City wedding reception because they make the celebration feel so personal to them.
As the evening continued, guests settled in for dinner before family and friends gathered for speeches and toasts.
