I originally wasn’t going to do a sweetheart table for this shoot, because Walnut Ridge normally places it infront of their black fireplace, and I didn’t have any black in my color scheme. I was worried that with all the bright colors the black would clash, but at the last second I was talked into just trying it out, and I’m so glad I went for it!

Much like the cake cutting, we wanted to repurpose this colorful backdrop and use it for as many moments and portraits as possible. Once the cake cutting was finished, we moved the cake out of the way and transformed the space into a retro-inspired champagne tower for Florence and Parker.
Champagne towers have been HUGE in the wedding world this past year, and for good reason. They create such a fun, interactive moment for the couple while doubling as an incredible wedding photo opportunity. Plus, there’s something about popping bottles and pouring champagne together that instantly gets everyone excited for the reception!
Of course, we wanted to put our own spin on this popular wedding reception trend. Instead of a traditional champagne tower, we added mini disco balls directly into the coupe glasses and around the base, then finished the glasses with tiny pink ribbon details. The disco balls tied back into the retro wedding décor used throughout the entire design and added the perfect touch of playful 70s-inspired glam.

And because we can never leave well enough alone, we filled the canoe with flowers! With the bride and groom tucked between layers of florals and vintage-inspired pillows, the finished look felt whimsical, romantic, and just a little bit unexpected.

The canoe isn’t the most stable, so we had a few extra hands helping hold it steady while it balanced partially on land and partially in the water. Once the couple was safely settled in, there wasn’t much room for movement, but they didn’t need it. A few quiet moments together, the beautiful pond as their backdrop, and a little creativity resulted in some of our absolute favorite Walnut Ridge wedding photos from the entire shoot.
