The Harmac
The HarMac Event Space is a stylish industrial venue located on the second floor of the historic Harper & McIntire building in downtown Cedar Rapids. Originally built in 1922 as a warehouse for handcrafted HarMac tools, the structure was restored in 2015 and opened as an event space in 2020. The venue offers exposed brick walls, natural light, original steel detailing, and bold pillars that emphasize its industrial history. “We found this Venue on the Knot while searching far and wide for the perfect location for our wedding in October 2024. We toured SO many venues, but I kept circling back to this one!! I fell IN LOVE with this building just seeing the pictures but when we toured it, I knew this was the one! Several people try to talk me out of it because "it's not your typical wedding venue" but that is exactly what I loved about this place!! The history, the unique German Cottage style, the bold colors, the high ceilings and gorgeous spiral chandeliers, the lavender patio, the deck with a view, the stunning counter in the bar... seriously what is not to love about this place? The owners of this business are beyond incredible and so wonderful to work with. They really went above and beyond to make everything perfect and special, and I could not be more grateful for the whole experience. Did I mention they have a Bridal Suite AND a Grooms Suite, a closet FULL of linens and decor with a variety of colors to match your theme, a fully loaded bar, the lovely fountain in the main hall that just makes your guests want to linger and talk and they don't require catering through them (which was a big selling factor for me). This Venue features a beautiful Ceremony site with three large arches for your backdrop (and the tree behind it is kind of shaped like a heart) right behind the building, plus two different rooms to choose from to host your reception and bonus there is a nice little hotel just across the interstate for your out-of-town guests. The convenience of being able to have your whole day all in one location is unmatched. The other venues we toured were too white, too bland and all so overpriced, adding fees here and there but this family did everything they could to keep it simple and budget friendly and that was one of the things I really enjoyed about working with them. 10/10 would choose the Aura Event Center again and will always keep them in mind for future events!” -Kayla D from Google

Dana and Alexa (the owners) are very friendly and were very helpful throughout the entire wedding process. They are very responsive to email and hold in-person meetings when needed. They hire a day coordinator to help you on the day of your wedding. We didn't know this when we signed our contract, but it was a delightful bonus. They had someone from Mostly Becky the entire day of our wedding, coordinating and planning while we were busy.
